Porsche 911

Porsche 911

There are two new Porsche 911 models that have recently become available – the GT2RS and the Speedster. A throbbing 456 kW, a top sped of 330 km/h and a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 3.5 seconds belongs to the 911 GT2RS. The Speedster is a cabriolet 911 that has the goods to crack over three tonne – now that’s real wind in the hair motoring!

One thing you’ll find with the Porsche 911 series is that there are so many models to choose between. So popular and coveted, the latest 911 line-up has no less than 20 cars to choose from. Then, of course, there is all the choices for the features you want to have onboard the particular 911 model that you’d like.

All the luxury goodies can be put into your 911 – from heated seats to heated steering wheels, from cruise control to GPS, from Bluetooth communications to high output surround sound audio systems, from two-tone leather interiors to single coloured interors.  It’s all there.
If you'll be in quick, you might be able to score yourself one of the rare Porsche 911 Speedsters - if they haven't been snaffled up already.  There was only 356 made.

Mark my words: The latest Porsche 911 is a stunner.  And it is so quick and incredibly desirable.
With a history that speaks for itself, the Porsche 911 is an automotive supercar heavy-weight.
The Porsche 911 range has many different models to choose from.  The line-up starts with the Carrera model - a rear-wheel driven 3.6-litre powered rocket.  The 239 kW, 370 Nm "Porky" can dash to 100 km/h from standstill in a time of 4.9 seconds for the 6-speed manual and 5.5 seconds for the 5-speed auto.  Performance is hot in all models.  There are highly desirable cabriolet versions and AWD models to tantalise your automotive tastebuds.  The scintilatingly quick  Turbo and GT2 models can beat nearly anything cocky enough to take it on.  With awesome handling, and a 0-100 km/h time of just 3.7 seconds, you can see why.   A  911 is fast and supremely agile.  Winding roads are where the Porsche 911 really shows its stuff, but those long straight roads should not be overlooked either.  The Porsche Active Suspension Management system makes electronic adjustments to the suspension system, actively and continuously regulating the damping force for each wheel according to the road conditions and driving style.  No wonder the thing sticks to the road like glue!  All new 911 Carrera models come with 18-inch Carrera IV wheels fitted as standard.  The S models are equipped with 19-inch Carrera S II wheels as standard. The visual effect is very sporty.

Exceptionally designed engines are built with only the finest materials, making the Porsche 911 a very reliable supercar.  With millisecond precision, DFI injects fuel at up to 120 bar directly into the combustion chamber by means of electromagnetically actuated injection valves.  The VarioCam Plus system used in Porsche engines combines variable valve timing with a two-stage lift on the inlet side of the valve opening.  This results in smoother running, better fuel economy and lower exhaust emissions, plus the greater top-end power and low-end torque that puts most challenging rivals into the driver's rear vision mirror. This two-in-one engine concept seamlessly adapts in response to the driver's demands.  Instant acceleration and extremely smooth running is an enjoyable result of Porsche's engineer's excellent work.

The EMS SDI 3.1 engine management system ensures optimum engine performance at all times and it controls the position of the electronic throttle valve (ETC).   Moreover, it regulates all engine-related functions and assemblies to provide outstanding fuel economy, emissions control and performance in all driving situations.  The stainless steel exhaust system comprises two independent and separate exhaust tracts.  Its catalytic converters are highly temperature-resistant and heat up rapidly for effective emissions reduction.  Porsche advancements in emissions technology have meant that they are able to meet very strict emission standards, such as EU5 in Europe and LEV II in the USA.
One very enjoyable aspect about owning a Porsche 911 is that you can win a track meet in the weekend, and then drive it to work the next day in congested traffic feeling completely comfortable.  The Porsche 911's interior is built around the driver, hence practicality and convenience are designed into the ergonomics of the exceptionally well put together interior.  When seated in the very figure-hugging driver's seat, you will enjoy simple, easy access to the switches and controls.  The multifunction steering wheel is designed to offer push button operation of the audio system, telephone and satellite navigation systems.  The seats come in a variety of options: Standard, Sport and Adaptive - all designed for your particular tastes.
Safety on the Porsche 911 is taken seriously, with weight sensors built into the front seat airbag system.  In a severe accident, the airbags deploy based on the weight of the passenger.  All Porsche 911 models are equipped with Porsche Side Impact Protection (POSIP) as standard which comprises of two airbags on each side instead of the usual one.  An integral thorax airbag is located in the seat backrests, while the door panels each contain a head airbag.  They have also been shaped to protect the occupants of 911 Carrera Cabriolet models, irrespective of whether the hood is up or down.  There is an optional tyre pressure monitoring system, and a headlight and fog light cleaning system.  Dynamic stability control and ABS help keep you confidently on the road.  The reinforced bodyshell structure contains a highly resiliant passenger cell which offers high levels of protection in the event of an impact. A patented system of longitudinal and transverse members is used at the front to absorb impact energy.  In the event of an accident, three separate load paths absorb energy, disperse the force of impact and minimise deformation of the passenger cell.
It woudn't take much to picture yourself today, snaking around an S-curve or going from 0-100 kp/h in 4.8 seconds inside a Porsche 911.  Top speeds can well exceed 300 km/h.  Built to drive exceptionally fast with out-of-this-world handling, test drive one today!
